RE: Support Kerberos authentication for Impala Connector

Hi, we are inplementing cloudera and we either have a choice PBI or something else, a hard requirement is Kerberos. Please support this a soon as possible. (is there a roadmap or ETA on this from MS? Cloudera mention this year, however i have not seen this commit from MS)

RE: Support Kerberos authentication for Impala Connector

Please add Kerberos support, it´s the main way people implement their Hadoop cluster authentication nowadays!

RE: Support Kerberos authentication for Impala Connector

Hey guys,
Please add this authentication. We will be forced to moved to another solution if our data is unable to be queried.

I agree with this post and Kerberos connector with Direct Query would answer my Security issues with this connector

RE: Support Kerberos authentication for Impala Connector

To leverage the Hadoop core power of processing and storage , we need 'Direct query' option working in Power BI . Most of the organizations implementing HADOOP cluster as Kerberos enabled which makes Power BI default impala connector useless. We appreciate if you roll out any timelines for this feature so that we can convince clients to stuck with Power BI otherwise they are moving to other visualization tools such as SAP Lumira etc.

This would be a lifesaver, currently looking for alternatives to Tableau that don't require a human snackrifice.

RE: Support Kerberos authentication for Impala Connector

Please add support for Kerberos Authentication for CDH Impala, a lot financial and public sector institutions use this authentication mode.

Thanks

RE: Support Kerberos authentication for Impala Connector

Some light at the end of the tunnel.... The Microsoft product team graciously provided my team with a pre-development 'hacked' copy of an Impala connector that supports direct query against a kerborized Impala data source.

This only works in Power BI desktop but allowed us to demo Power BI against Impala to our big data team, who are currently evaluating reporting tool options. During preliminary tests performance was very impressive in direct query mode.

Per the product team they are working with Cloudera to finalize design and timeline of a connector that can be implemented thru the Enterprise Gateway.

RE: Support Kerberos authentication for Impala Connector

Having to create a DSN to use kerberos authentication makes the connection basically useless - NO DIRECT QUERY capability is severely limiting.

Please support kerberos on this connector!

RE: Support Kerberos authentication for Impala Connector

Please add support for Kerberos. Many financial institutions use such authentication ONLY.
