We really love the new feature of 'Composite Models' in the Power BI July 2018 update! This enables us to join custom lists with DirectQuery sources.
It would also be beneficial if this would also work when connected to SSAS Tabular in DirectQuery.
This would stronlgy improve the enterprise features of Power BI.

Not an easy task no doubt but this would be THE killer feature.

This functionality would definitely be useful as more people want reports that based on online applications such as Project Online and Sharepoint.

This would be very helpful, one report can be created using multiple datasets from different departments.

Please keep up-to-date. We need it.

Agree this would be useful as would allow for smaller focussed data models that can be included or discounted depending on the business need

This is a must have feature in Power BI. It is currently a make or break situation in our organization for a lot of scenarios. Please release it ASAP.

3 years and counting since the original idea...

This would be great! Sometimes the tabular model might be focused on one aspect and we just need to integrate another piece of data for a specific report...this would enable us to kind of compartmentalize things.
For example there may be a 'Sales' tabular model for the entire organization, but for one portion sales are tied heavily to maybe the weather. That group may want to integrate weather data with their sales analysis...without this feature they either: A. have to make their own model to include the weather data or B. get the enterprise developers to include weather data (which possibly no one else will use) into the tabular model.
