The March 2018 update introduced visual header control at the report level.

Since this is currently an 'all-or-nothing' feature, please evolve this so we can control visual headers on a per visual basis.

We completed this as part of our July release! If you haven't use the new header yet, make sure to turn it on for your existing reports and try out all the new features. You can also read about it in our July blog post: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-july-2018-feature-summary/#visualHeader

RE: Allow visual header control per visual

I appreciate the update but it is missing an important piece. The export and sort feature are vital and when you turn off the visual headers they are missing. Either adding it to the menu when right clicking the mouse or by selectively hiding the visual headers is a must.

Thank you,
Travis

RE: Allow visual header control per visual

In my work I can`t work with power BI Desktop edition. I am working with PowerBI service via API. On app.powerbi.com I can`t hide visual header. Please, add this functionality. Thanks

RE: Allow visual header control per visual

Seems the ability to turn off the visual header just makes it invisible, it still takes up room. If you have slicers placed close together when one is in focus it covers a section of the one above making it hard to select. Looks miles better but still not practical when space is an issue. Also agree should be available on individual visuals rather than all or none.

RE: Allow visual header control per visual

This would be great and was wishing could do just this today, and just to clarify these are the little expand and other icons that appear above a visualization. Even the most mundane 'visualization' have these and would be great to turn them off individually, especially on slicers and textboxes, quite frequently accidentally expand or select pin visual. In addition these affect spacing and report formatting since have to place labels lower than normally would.

RE: Allow visual header control per visual

The headers must be controlled on a per-visual basis. They create a significant usabiity issue when visually obscuring information below (on mouseover). They are more problematic when an visualization or visual element is selected and the header becomes a static layer that sits in the foreground, until unselected. In usability tests both behaviors created problems for some test subjects.

RE: Allow visual header control per visual

We need to have the capability to show or not show a certain column with in a table or matrix in any kind of visual basing on the role level. Make it available. TheRLS in the azure model has the ability hide certain column, do not see why Power bi can not do this
thank you!!

RE: Allow visual header control per visual

I cannot believe they would introduce this feature as an all or nothing. Pretty useless for majority

Yes..was excited to see this feature but immediately realized it's not usable given it disables it for everything. Having visual level control is definitely required.

RE: Allow visual header control per visual

Much needed feature for sure which is very much appreciated but agree with others on this being visual independent and should be like how we can set up "interactions" so that we can control what visual should show what or nothing at all.
