Allow a user to set the default value for a slicer or tile-by value on a page/dashboard, so that when the Power View page is opened for the first time, the default value is selected.
eg. If the page has a slicer for Year or Month, allow the user to configure the most recent Year or Month to be selected by default.

We're looking into this request, thanks for everyone's votes and comments. It looks like many of the requests will be addressed by the new 'Sticky filters' capability. Now when you log out of Power BI and come back to a report, the same items will be selected as when you left. For those who're looking to have a 'last month' selection, the relative date slicer might help. Those with comments about currencies where having multiple selected makes the report meaningless - the report will load with whatever selection the author saved, so if you save it with one currency selected your users will see that by default. If there are scenarios that these features don't address, please let us know in your comments - if you are really specific it'll help us build the feature to work just the way you want! Thanks again!

RE: Default Selected Slicer or Tile-By Value Configuration
This is an extremely important feature

Yes this is really needed.
RE: Default Selected Slicer or Tile-By Value Configuration
really needed to show default date as current month date range.
RE: Default Selected Slicer or Tile-By Value Configuration
The preselected slicer value would also drastically reduce DB usage when a power BI report is connected to DB via DirectQuery. Currently we have a situation when user goes to report page and whole data is accessed before user select the dates he wan't to look at the date. This inceases the DB load by over 10x since normally user is interested on specific date data (not whole year...)

On a multi-tab report, this is an issue that can really get in the way of a user's flow. I receive emails all the time that a page is displaying the wrong metrics; when in actuality, the user has not updated their slicer to reflect the most current month when they switched tabs. If a user does not have a pleasant experience, there is less of a chance of them using your report.

This feature is important for viewing large data sets. Our example is that for a Region Sales Manager, he wants to look at store by store performance. Seeing all sellers at all stores is not useful. We want to default the chart to show all sellers at the first store (alphabetically) in his region so that the bar chart with sales performance information only shows 10-15 bars instead of hundreds which is not useful and is very visually unappealing
RE: Default Selected Slicer or Tile-By Value Configuration
I agree,
this feature will very useful.
RE: Default Selected Slicer or Tile-By Value Configuration
Yes this is needed in the case where you have data that if not filtered doesn't present useable data
RE: Default Selected Slicer or Tile-By Value Configuration
Another reason to have a default selection and not allow "All" for a slicer is sometimes we have reports that are reporting on a very detailed level that you would want to force the user to slice to avoid overly large queries.
RE: Default Selected Slicer or Tile-By Value Configuration
I currently assessing Power BI as an alternative to an interactive excel worksheet but not having this option has limited the applications usefulness.
