Firstly I'm trying to connect Xero to PowerBI Desktop - for which it appears there is no immediate or simple solution. I see it has been suggested MANY times by PowerBI advocates (in the forum and online) - and it truly IS a connection that I believe is essential in this day and age. Xero is lauded by even the ATO, so it seems a no brainer to think that a connection should be in the existing list in PowerBI.

so I tried 'Secondly' (my plan B) - Managing to connect online PowerBI to the Xero App which was fine, showing an example of a lovely dashboard from basically a 'test set of info', however when I select to connect to 'my' data in xero - absolutely NOTHING happens.

I am REALLY desperate to provide my Employer with a successful result 'either way' - as I convinced him to join up to xero instead of other Accounting Packages that could have offered him similar services that he required and be automatically connected to PowerBI.

SO frustrating - if anyone can assist I'd be ever so grateful.

this is must for small biz which don't need the extra expense of a 3rd party app.

We have so many clients ask us for this & they're all so surprised that it doesn't exist. The 3rd party connectors are OK but they're expensive. It'd be so much better if there was a direct connection from withing Power BI Desktop ... not just the Service.

Please allow a direct connection with Xero in the DESKTOP version. We are a data analytics company without the resources to maintain our own API's and hence forced to rely on third parties to do so when connecting Xero to Power BI. Xero has become the leading cloud based accounting package, you are losing customers because of this.
