At least as an option, allow fields to be ordered the same as the source query rather than alphabetical. This way they can be put in a logical and consistent order.

Obviously, a workaround is to prefix each column name with a number but this is clunky, unattractive and a pain if the columns change often.

RE: Customize fields list ordering

Please add this soon. It is so frustrating trying to find a field in alphabetical order when we are so used to our data being ordered in a different way.

RE: Customize fields list ordering

I would like to customize the list of fields in view mode of the records in a report and save it.

RE: Customize fields list ordering

Agreed! I would be much obliged if you would kindly fix this. About a week into using Power BI and this is my biggest gripe by far. I am constantly playing hunt the field, whereas if it was in the original order I would just know - I would already be moving my mouse pointer to roughly the right part of the list before even thinking about it. Particularly problematic with calculated columns on the end of data set with a "flow" from one to the next in a logical manner. To my mind isLate comes after daysToTarget and I'm don't think I will ever come to see alphabetical order as an improvement. This is just one example from my work today which I hope explains the point.

RE: Customize fields list ordering

Usually in a pivot table field view you may choose to sort the fields alphabetically or data source order. However, if you also happen to hide any field from client tools, you may no longer sort in data source order, alphabetically only.

RE: Customize fields list ordering

Please consider this, it would be a very useful "cosmetic" change. Oddly hard to find the field you're looking for when you're so used to seeing it in table column order. Address data in particular is a pain to add from an alphabetical list.

RE: Customize fields list ordering

At least re-order the fields in fields pane. I would also be helpful to be able to create folders and put the fields in logical blocks, especially for large data sets. Most BI tools have this for ages.

RE: Customize fields list ordering

From the end user prospective, we need to have an option to chose weather or not the columns in the Fields pane should be loaded in the same order as in source
