Often we need to expand on an idea from one report further and copy and paste visuals/pages from one PBIX to another. This would be a huge productivity and quality benefit.

We are excited to announce that this shipped in our November update of PBI Desktop: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-november-2018-feature-summary/#copyPaste For those asking, it will be included in the next version of Power BI Desktop for Report Server as well.

RE: Allow copy and paste between different PBIX's

Minimally copy & paste between two PBIX files connecting to same data source should be enabled. This is very much critical for collaboration to meet the deadlines.

Could we please get an update as to this request's status? It should be on the user to ensure that the same data model is used between the .pbix files that a visual is being copied between. It should be as simple as ensuring the table and field names match. If not, show an error on the visual.

RE: Allow copy and paste between different PBIX's

We are trying to develop a analytical product utilising PowerBI. However it is going to become cumbersome to roll out updates if we can't moves pages between files.

It also puts a practical limit on a team of people working on a report if you can't consolidate the team's work into a single Report file.

RE: Allow copy and paste between different PBIX's

'Hi everyone, not sure if this has been discussed already, but here is an effective workaround:
- Publish the reports you want to move visualizations between to the Power BI Service
- Edit the report you want to copy visuals from, select and CTRL+C
- Within the same tab (I was using Chrome), navigate to the report you want to paste to, edit the report and CTRL+V
- Then save and download the PBIX file!
In my experience, it has to happen in the same tab in Chrome. I did not try IE or Edge. It took me 5 minutes to recreate the work it would've taken an hour to do manually.

If not Data, only the control properties are copied over, even that would be a huge add on!

The ability to copy/paste text boxes, images, and other shapes would be a nice start. No data dependencies with these items.
