RE: Add a multiple columns sort featue
In matrix visual: First sort by field 1 and then by field 2 etc - this is an essential requirement! E.g. First sort by Total, then by month. Thanks.

Please add this feature. It would be really really helpful!!

Even Excel knows this functionality. :-) It would be a very nice to have when sorting on yearweeknumber.

RE: Add a multiple columns sort featue
Adding to the chorus for inclusion of multi-column sorting (for either table visualizations or underlying queries). This is a very basic reporting task which is trivial to do in Excel or SQL. I am shocked to find out it is not possible in Power BI. My Fortune 500 organization is evaluating Power BI for possible use at an enterprise level, but this sort of deficiency precludes full-scale adoption.

This is called Advanced Sorting in most BI tools. It usually opens a pop-up window where you can select the first column you want to sort on on and the associated sorting order.
Then you can add other columns you want to sort on next.
It should also give you the possibility to move columns up and down to manage the order in which the sorting should be applied
