KPI Red/Yellow/Green Indicators were available in Power Pivot. With the new Power BI Desktop this feature is not available anymore. If you import from PP to the Desktop it converts the RYG Indicator Dots to a number. Will the Red/Yellow/Green Indicators be added back to PowerBI Desktop? If so When?

It's very exciting to be able to close this idea! With the July 2019 release of Power BI Desktop you can now create icon sets that show status indicators, in fact a whole range of icons, in your table and matrix visuals. You can read more in Amanda's blog post here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-july-2019-feature-summary/#iconSets For those of you who want to have the KPI definition stored in the model itself, please vote on this idea for us to track interest there: https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200/suggestions/38181139 Thanks for engaging with the ideas forum and helping us build the product you need!

I believe Michael was referring to Excel (non-Power Pivot) Conditional Formatting Icon sets. The article below uses Star icons (probably best reserved for a millennial audience), but the more common choices include colored arrows or shapes. https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Use-data-bars-color-scales-and-icon-sets-to-highlight-data-f118d0a6-5921-4e2e-905b-fe00f3378fb9

Creating KPI's (same as powerPivot) in PBI desktop is a must. You can import from Excel, but it wipes out everything else in your pbix file! (no changes to kpi's without rebuilding the entire pbix file).

I converted an existing model from Excel and I have KPIs! I'd just assumed they were part of Power BI also, but even in current version can't seen how to create them. But they apparently work if converted from Excel. I kid you not.

If you vote for this, please also vote to add trending functions (like linear regression) to Power BI / DAX, otherwise your KPIs will be really simplistic

I don't think the Power BI Visual is stratifying this we are talking about the KPI that is same as the one in PowerPivot, I can see that you can import and PowerPivot Excel Sheet and those KPI will funcation properly but we want the ability to create the same KPIs directly from Power BI Desktop and modify them as in PowerPivot Exactly

This is the one thing that is the deal breaker for us to adopt Power BI at work at the moment. In order to sell it to our management, the ability to conditionally format charts is an absolute must have. We currently use other dashboard software which allows us to show, say, course success rates as green if above 90%, blue if between 85% and 90%, orange if between 80% and 85% and red if below 80%. Losing this functionality is not an option.

RE: When will the KPI Red/Yellow/Green Indicators be available on PowerBI Desktop?

Not being able to create KPIs in Power BI Desktop is a big problem. I know they can be created in Excel, but I am often given new KPI requests after a report has been published. Going all the way back to Excel is scarcely even possible at that point. I would have to re-import the Excel file, recreate all the pages of the report, all the visuals, all the filters, then publish it and recreate all the dashboards... So for now I just have to say no to my managers, which is a word that I don't like to use and they don't like to hear.

RE: When will the KPI Red/Yellow/Green Indicators be available on PowerBI Desktop?

I think that Microsoft must spend more time on these basic, fundamentals of reporting / dashboarding. I worry that too often they spend more time chasing cool, "glitzy" functionality, at the expense of the core functionality that other products have
