We really love the new feature of 'Composite Models' in the Power BI July 2018 update! This enables us to join custom lists with DirectQuery sources.
It would also be beneficial if this would also work when connected to SSAS Tabular in DirectQuery.
This would stronlgy improve the enterprise features of Power BI.

This is a very important and critical feature that will facilitate the deployment of Power BI and associated MS stack on the data side. We need this ASAP.

This is a show stopper for my organization we should be able to use multiple data sources in SSAS tabular model. Please add this feature ASAP.

This feature is a necessity. We need to be able to create relationships between live data and attribute files that are maintained in Excel. Also, website data can be blended with this as well. Truly a necessity.

I used Excel to connect to SSAS MD to build pivot tables using a connection string with the property (Extended Properties="LocaleIdentifier=4105") to load the English data from our Cube managed on French and English.
I'm using Power BI Desktop and I'm not able to change the connection string or to find how I can specify this setting in order to load English data from the cube.

'@Everyone why would you have multiple cubes that need to be pulled together? The purpose of a cube is to pull all related data into a one view so that citizen developers can create reports with a controlled and standardized measures.

As many have said, not everything is in one cube.

this is really a show stopper for my organization we should be able to use multiple data sources in SSAS tabular model. Please add this feature ASAP. We are planing to buy premium Power Services but seems like I have to think again for the same. This is the basic features in other BI tool not sure why this is not available.
RE: Composite models when connected to AS models (PBI datasets and Azure Analysis Services)
This is a very important feature and I feel frustrated and dejected when business users keep asking for this feature. This is going to be a huge difference in user adoption and we(IT) can't keep giving the same reason every time. I am struggling to understand why anyone from Microsoft wouldn't comment on this as to indicate there stand on this. I(and my users) am losing my patience. MS please let us know a) can this be done ? b)If can't, what is the reason
PS: The other tools are able to give this feature and why you can't ???

without this function PowerBi is just useless to work with SSAS. We need to mix data from SSAS,excel, sql and other sources. No we cant switch platform for our dashboards from Excel to PBI
