Now that Power BI has the Analyse in Excel function, can you please make Excel Online (Excel in a browser) connect to the Power BI data source so slicers and timelines function and the workbook can refresh from the Power BI data source?

I believe that Microsoft should link all of its data related applications to Power BI

If this is Planned since 2016, why is it not implemented yet? I believe strongly that this use case providing Excel files backed by PowerBI datasets is extremely useful. Especially as Power BI has more connection types than Excel, and why would you rebuild a dataset in Excel if you already have done the work in Power BI.

My business clients are desperate for more options in Excel as they transition to using Power BI

I subscribe "Can someone from the Power BI team please walk up to the Excel team to get this sorted? Resolving this would be HUGE!"

The idea is among the most voted for Excel online: https://excel.uservoice.com/forums/274580-excel-online/suggestions/33793252-pivottables-created-with-power-bi-using-analyze-in
but no feedback from the Excel Online team :-(

Without this option, the 'Analyze in Excel' feature only has 50% of its impact.

I read somewhere that the Excel development team needs to fix this on their end?? This really needs to be fixed, otherwise publishing to workbooks section in Power BI is asking for trouble with other users based on the data is stale and doesn't refresh (reload button does nothing) unless the desktop file has been manually refreshed.

vote on it here.

RE: Allow Excel Online to connect to a Power BI data source via 'Analyse In Excel'

There are times when a standard Excel pivot table makes a bit more sense than the PowerBI table and matrix. With PowerBI hosting 'apps' in SharePoint Online, there is a natural fit for colocating "Analyze in Excel" workbooks for data consumption. The ability to alter the slicer/filter elements of an Excel PivotTable could provide a lower barrier to entry for people to consume PowerBI content if it could be actively filtered in Excel Online.

Pinning parts of an Excel workbook to a Power BI dashboard only makes sense if the data is up-to-date
