It was implemented in charts but not in tables or matrixes.

We released conditional formatting in tables with our May release of Power BI Desktop. Give it a try and let us know what you think. You can learn more about how to use it in our latest blog post: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-may-update-feature-summary/.

RE: conditional formatting in tables

I'm assuming this solution will be comparable to the "highlight table" graphic in Tableau, which I really like. Trying to give Power BI a go, but something so simple (a color coded matrix) is definitely needed to give me reason to keep pushing BI!

RE: conditional formatting in tables

For me, I'd want to be able to apply color saturation to the whole table or to individual columns/rows. It would be useful to all color by another value (like Excel's conditional formatting rules), but that wouldn't be a priority.

RE: conditional formatting in tables

This was previewed at Insights Summit in March 2016, and thought this feature would have been included in the April release. This feature is critical to my end users and wanted to know if this will be part of May 2016 Release?

RE: conditional formatting in tables

Alternative colouring is good, but it is even greater that conditional formatting could be applied to table/matrix as well. Also, wondering whether a specific record/row could be highlighted while hovering

RE: conditional formatting in tables

The description says this functionality has been "implemented in charts but not in tables or matrixes"

Where is this functionality available for charts?

In fact all that MSFT did is to allow us to select custom colours to our visuals. There is no such functionality currently in Power BI (as of April 2016) that allow us to specify a colour based on conditionals -- be it in charts, tables or any other one of the built-in visuals. So I am surprise that MSFT has been marking previous suggestions as "completed" when it is far from the truth :-)

RE: conditional formatting in tables

Guys, as a PDM myself I just want to say that the work your doing is amazing. This one is a top priority for me and for my team. Everyone is using excel with heat mapped columns. So it would be 4 or 5 columns, with a variance column at the end, and that variance column would be heatmapped. Or also could contain the spark charts underneath. Would be big.

RE: conditional formatting in tables

The option to be able to format the color of the table cell based on a calculated/previously defined value... That would be very helpful.
