Export a report directly in Excel (not only via csv file)

Administrator on 16 Jun 2017 23:49:13

Exporting to Excel from Power BI is supported. You have two options for exporting your data to Excel: * Once you publish to the Power BI service, you can export your data to Excel by clicking on the ... button for any visual. See more info here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-service-export-data/ * You can use the Analyze in Excel feature to connect directly to your model in Excel: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-service-analyze-in-excel/

RE: export excel

plus export to Excel in the format that it is displayed, such as if the date is by month in columns, the export should be the same and not "stack" the data in rows.

RE: export excel

It's odd Microsoft haven't already given a proper solution for that. No, it's not possible to export the entire report following simple formatting (e.g.: row filter, table style) to a xlsx file for desktop users: you simply get a comma-separated-data that demands extra work, every time. You can try DAX studio, but it's a hack.

RE: export excel

'Export to Excel is only available on the service.
It would be useful for key users to adpot PowerBI to get at least :
- a clean export to Excel for other visuals s: MATRIX especially
- the ability to export a full report in Excel : doing 50 times a dozen of export is time-consuming and not user friendly at all.

RE: export excel

There is something called UserExperience... and From that point of view, if I need to export 20 things per day, and I need to click each time on export, download it, open it in xl, click on Data, click on Text to Columns, answer 10 questions the wizard.. its anoying, and time consuming... and you need to instruct people to do this

Excel is a Format that belongs Microsoft, so is there a reason, not being able to export it directly in that format, and save a lot a lot of time ! ??

At the moment, I can't see that feature on Report Server on Premise, will it be available there too ??

RE: export excel

This isnĀ“t completed. A user can only export the underlying data, but not the visual.
Already having the ability to export a visual as a gif would be of use.
